Since existence of the institute for plastics engineering at the University of Paderborn 1980 an intensive contact was maintained to industrial enterprises of the most different sections of the plastics processing national and international. In community research project or by solutions of individual problem definitions, on research in line with standard usage always large value was put. Before this background 1993 the promotion association was created with the goal of being made possible and projects of being promoted application orientated research and development in the range of the plastic technology by intensive co-operation between Institut and the industry, those not by public research institutions such as DFG, AiF, European Union or BMBF of being financed. The promotion association at the end of 1993, when it took up officially its activity, counted 14 members in such a way today already is it 33. Small middle class enterprises, non-profit donations and institutes and companies acting world-wide rank among it.
